Standing Committees

The Zonta Club of Jefferson City ask that all of its members be proactive, get involved and serve on one of our standing committees. Below is a list of Zonta’s Standing Committees

Advocacy

Research status of women issues to ensure service and advocacy activities are in keeping with the mission of Zonta International. Educates club members on International Service Projects and the work of the USA Caucus.

Bylaws and Standing Rules

Keeps an accurate record of any changes to our bylaws and standing rules and presents them to the board of directors annually.

Courtesy

The Courtesy committee is responsible to send out any correspondence as directed by the Club Board of Directors such as life events, birthdays, and professional recognition.

Finance

The Finance committee shall prepare a budget for the club membership immediately after the beginning of the fiscal year, but no later than September 1. The Finance Committee also oversees club finances and organizes the holiday raffle.

International Awareness

Raises awareness of Zonta International’s education programs and partners. Education programs include the Amelia Earhart Fellowship, the Women in Business Scholarship, Women in Technology Scholarship, and Young Women in Public Affairs Award when funds are available. Presents information to club members on Zonta International partners: UN Women, UNICEF USE, and UNFPA. Chairs an event to raise awareness of these partners within our local community.

Irene Robinette High School Scholarships

Organizes and coordinates the application and selection of scholarship recipients from the four Jefferson City High Schools. A scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to a student from each school.

Membership

Promotes recruitment and retention of club members, monitors membership attendance and committee work, updates membership information and holds regular mentoring meetings.

Program

Plans meeting programs and other club activities according to Zonta’s mission and goals. The club vice-president shall serve as the chair of this committee.

Public Relations

Develops a plan for awareness of the objects of Zonta International and club activities. Coordinates between the event chairs for assistance with publicity. Manages the website (www.ZontaJCMO.org) and social media. This person also assists with maintaining photos and historical records for the club.

Second Chance Scholarship

Organizes and coordinates the application and selection of scholarship recipients. Proceeds from the “Yellow Rose Luncheon” fund these scholarships and determine the amount awarded each year.

Service

Recommend action in accordance with the Objects of Zonta International and Zonta International’s Biennial Goals to empower women through international and local service projects. Plans club community service projects in line with Zonta’s mission and encourages attendance of club members.

Status of Women

Presents information to club members on the status of women locally and worldwide and recommends ways Zonta can improve the status of women. This committee promotes the participation and selection of qualified candidates for the Young Women in Public Affairs Scholarship and the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship.

Students of the Month

Organizes the selection and recognition of students each month from Jefferson City High School, Helias High School and a Cole County High School.

United Nations/International

Presents information to club members about our involvement in the United Nations which includes UN Day, October 24 and chairs the 5K Run/Walk each fall.

Women of Achievement

Organizes the WOA event, which is held in the spring. There are numerous sub-committees which obtain sponsors, plan logistics, receive nominations for the award, work with the media, etc.

Z-Club

Serves as liaison between Zonta and the young women’s Z-Club. Z-Club meets monthly with programs and service projects during the school year and is inclusive of all Cole County high schools.
